Frequently asked questions
How do I make a pie chart online?▾
Select Pie, enter each category and its value (or paste two columns from Excel or Google Sheets), and the chart updates instantly with percentages. Press Download PNG to save it for slides, documents or social posts.
When should I use a pie chart vs a bar chart?▾
Use a pie or donut chart to show parts of a whole with a few categories (ideally 2–6). Use a bar chart to compare many categories or values that don't add up to a total, and a line chart to show change over time.
How are pie chart percentages calculated?▾
Each slice's percentage is its value divided by the total of all values, times 100. For example, 1200 out of a 2380 total is 50.4%. Values don't need to add up to 100 — the tool converts them for you.
Can I paste data from Excel or Google Sheets?▾
Yes. Copy two columns (labels and numbers), press Paste data and paste. Tab, comma, semicolon and colon separators all work, as do numbers like 1,200 or 2,5.
Can I show negative numbers?▾
Bar, horizontal bar and line charts support negative values with a zero baseline. Pie and donut charts can only show positive parts of a whole.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?▾
No. The chart is drawn in your browser and the PNG or SVG file is created on your device, so your numbers never leave your computer.
