Frequently asked questions
What BPM should I practice at?▾
Start slow enough to play cleanly — often 60–80 BPM — then raise the tempo 4–5 BPM at a time once a passage feels easy. Most pop songs sit around 100–130 BPM.
How does tap tempo work?▾
Tap the button in time with the music. The metronome averages the gaps between your last taps to find the BPM; pause for a few seconds to start over.
What are subdivisions?▾
Extra, quieter clicks between beats: eighths split each beat in two, triplets in three and sixteenths in four. They help with steady rhythm in fast or syncopated passages.
Is this metronome accurate?▾
Yes. Clicks are scheduled ahead on the Web Audio clock rather than with timers, so timing stays exact even if the page is busy.
