Frequently asked questions
How does an online hearing age test work?▾
It plays pure tones that rise in pitch. Our ability to hear high frequencies falls with age, so the highest tone you can still hear gives a rough idea of your hearing age.
What frequency can a normal person hear?▾
Young people can hear from about 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. By middle age most people stop hearing tones above 14,000 to 15,000 Hz, which is a normal part of ageing.
Is an online hearing test accurate?▾
It is only a rough check. Headphones and speakers often cannot play very high tones, and volume settings vary. For a real diagnosis, see an audiologist for a proper hearing test.
