Frequently asked questions
What are the notes of standard guitar tuning?▾
From the thickest to the thinnest string: E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 (82.41, 110, 146.83, 196, 246.94 and 329.63 Hz with A4 = 440 Hz).
How accurate is this online tuner?▾
It measures pitch to a fraction of a cent and shows the string as in tune within ±5 cents, which is tighter than most people can hear. A quiet room gives the steadiest reading.
Why does the tuner show the wrong string?▾
It picks the closest string in the selected tuning. If a string is more than a few semitones off, tune it roughly first, or switch to Chromatic mode to see the exact note.
Is my microphone audio recorded?▾
No. Sound is analyzed live in your browser and never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
