Frequently asked questions
How do I record my voice online?▾
Press Start recording and allow the browser to use your microphone. The timer and level meter show that audio is coming in. Press Stop & save to create a recording you can play, rename and download.
What format are the recordings?▾
Chrome, Edge and Firefox record in WebM/Opus or Ogg; Safari records in M4A (AAC). Any recording can also be downloaded as WAV, which opens in virtually every audio editor, phone and computer.
Is there a time limit?▾
No fixed limit. Recordings are kept in memory until you close the page — an hour of speech in WebM is roughly 50–60 MB. WAV files are much larger (about 10 MB per minute), so convert long recordings only if you need to.
Why can't the recorder access my microphone?▾
The browser needs your permission. Click the camera/microphone icon in the address bar, allow access and try again. Also check that no other app is using the microphone and that the right input device is selected in your system settings.
Should I turn noise suppression off?▾
Keep it on for speech in noisy rooms. Turn it off when recording music or instruments, because noise suppression and automatic gain can cut quiet notes and change the sound.
Are my recordings private?▾
Yes. Audio is recorded and stored only in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server. Recordings are lost when you close the tab, so download the ones you want to keep.
