Frequently asked questions
What is the formula for speed, distance and time?▾
Speed = distance ÷ time, distance = speed × time, and time = distance ÷ speed. Use matching units — for example km and hours give km/h.
How do I calculate travel time?▾
Divide the distance by your average speed. 300 km at 100 km/h takes 3 hours; 100 miles at 65 mph takes about 1 hour 32 minutes. Choose Find time and enter both values.
How do I convert km/h to mph?▾
Divide km/h by 1.609 (or multiply by 0.6214). 100 km/h ≈ 62.1 mph, and 60 mph ≈ 96.6 km/h. The calculator shows every unit automatically.
What is average speed?▾
Total distance divided by total time, including stops. Driving 120 km in 2 hours is an average of 60 km/h even if you sometimes drove faster.
How do I convert m/s to km/h?▾
Multiply by 3.6: 10 m/s = 36 km/h. To go from km/h to m/s, divide by 3.6.
What is a knot?▾
One nautical mile (1,852 m) per hour — about 1.852 km/h or 1.151 mph. Knots are used for ships and aircraft.
