Frequently asked questions
How do I know how big my puppy will get?▾
A common rule is to divide the current weight by the age in weeks and multiply by 52. Breed size matters too, because large and giant breeds keep growing for 18 to 24 months.
At what age is a puppy half its adult weight?▾
Small breeds are usually half grown at around 3 to 4 months, medium breeds at about 4 to 5 months, and large or giant breeds at 5 to 6 months or later.
Do paw size and parents' weight matter?▾
Parents' weight is the best clue for a purebred dog. Big paws are only a loose hint. For mixed breeds this calculator gives a reasonable estimate from growth so far.
