Frequently asked questions
What is TDEE?▾
TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is the number of calories you burn in a day, including your resting metabolism (BMR) and all activity. Eating at your TDEE maintains your weight.
How is TDEE calculated?▾
BMR is estimated with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (or Katch-McArdle if you enter body fat), then multiplied by an activity factor from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (extremely active).
How many calories should I eat to lose weight?▾
A deficit of about 500 calories below your TDEE leads to roughly 1 lb (0.5 kg) of weight loss per week. Avoid going below about 1,200 kcal (women) or 1,500 kcal (men) without medical advice.
