Frequently asked questions
What is keyword density?▾
The share of a text made up of a keyword: occurrences × words in the keyword ÷ total words × 100. A 2-word phrase used 5 times in a 500-word article has a density of 2%.
What is a good keyword density?▾
There's no fixed rule, but most SEO guidance puts a natural range around 0.5–2%. Above about 3% text often reads as keyword stuffing, which search engines may penalize.
What are stop words?▾
Very common words like the, and, of and to. Ignoring them makes the list show the words that actually describe your topic.
Why look at 2- and 3-word phrases?▾
People search in phrases. Phrase counts show which multi-word keywords your text really targets — for example 'keyword density' rather than just 'keyword'.
