Frequently asked questions
How do I scale a recipe?▾
Divide the servings you want by the original servings to get the scale factor, then multiply every ingredient amount by it. Going from 4 to 6 servings means multiplying by 1.5.
Can it handle fractions like 1 1/2 or ½?▾
Yes. It reads whole numbers, decimals, fractions such as 3/4, mixed numbers such as 1 1/2, unicode fractions such as ½ and ranges such as 2–3.
Do baking times change when I double a recipe?▾
Often yes. Larger batches in a deeper pan bake longer, so check early and use the same pan depth when possible. Spices and salt are best scaled a little less and adjusted to taste.
