How do you add fractions with different denominators?▾
Find a common denominator (the least common multiple), convert both fractions, then add the numerators. 1/2 + 1/3 = 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.
How do you divide fractions?▾
Keep the first fraction, flip the second and multiply: 3/4 ÷ 1/2 = 3/4 × 2/1 = 6/4 = 3/2 = 1 1/2.
How do I simplify a fraction?▾
Divide the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor. 18/24: the GCD is 6, so 18/24 = 3/4.
How do I convert a decimal to a fraction?▾
Write the decimal over the matching power of ten and simplify: 0.625 = 625/1000 = 5/8. For repeating decimals like 0.333… the calculator finds the closest simple fraction (1/3).
How do I enter a mixed number?▾
Type the whole number, a space, then the fraction — for example 2 3/4. Negative mixed numbers work too: -1 1/2.
