    Frequently asked questions

    What is the Pomodoro Technique?▾

A time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo: work for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and after four focus sessions take a longer 15–30 minute break.

Can I change the timer lengths?▾

Yes. Set focus, short break and long break from 1 to 180 minutes, and choose after how many sessions the long break comes. Popular alternatives are 50/10 and 90/20.

Will the timer keep running in a background tab?▾

Yes. It counts down from a fixed end time, so it stays accurate even when the browser slows background tabs. The remaining time is shown in the tab title.

How do I get notified when a session ends?▾

Keep Sound on for a chime and tick Desktop notification to get a system alert. Your browser will ask for permission the first time.

Does skipping a session count toward my total?▾

No. Only focus sessions that run to zero are counted in your session total and focused minutes.
