How do you calculate the age difference between two people?▾
Subtract the earlier birth date from the later one, counting whole years, then remaining months, then days. Someone born on 14 May 1990 is 4 years, 5 months and 19 days older than someone born on 2 November 1994.
What is the half your age plus seven rule?▾
It is a popular rule of thumb for the youngest socially acceptable partner: divide your age by two and add seven. For a 40-year-old that is 27.
What is the average age gap between couples?▾
In heterosexual couples, men are on average about 2–3 years older than women. Age gaps of 10 or more years make up only around 8% of married couples.
