    Frequently asked questions

How do I play drums with my keyboard?▾

Each pad has a key: Q crash, W high tom, E cowbell, A open hi-hat, S low tom, D clap, Z closed hi-hat, X snare and C kick. Press Space to start or stop the beat.

    How do I make a beat?▾

Each row of the grid is a drum and each column one 16th note. Click cells to switch them on, then press Play. A classic rock beat puts the kick on steps 1 and 9, the snare on 5 and 13, and hi-hats on every other step.

    What does BPM mean?▾

Beats per minute — the tempo. Hip hop is often 80–100 BPM, rock around 100–130 and house music about 120–128. Each beat has four steps in the grid.

Why is there a delay when I tap?▾

Browser audio adds a small latency, usually 10–40 ms. Wired headphones help — Bluetooth headphones can add 150 ms or more, which makes live playing feel late.

Can I save or export my beat?▾

The beat stays while the page is open. To record it, play it while using a screen or audio recorder. Presets reload instantly any time.

Does it use real drum samples?▾

No — every sound is synthesized live with the Web Audio API, so the page loads instantly and works offline once opened. Sounds are modelled on classic analog drum machines.
