    Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the height prediction?▾

The mid-parental method puts about 95% of children within roughly 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) of the predicted height. Nutrition, sleep, health and puberty timing all shift the final result.

How is the predicted height calculated?▾

Add the parents' heights, add 13 cm (5 inches) for a boy or subtract 13 cm for a girl, then divide by two. That average is the mid-parental target height.

Is it true you can double a child's height at age 2?▾

It is a popular rule of thumb: boys reach about half their adult height around 24 months and girls a little earlier, around 18 months. The calculator shows this as a second estimate.
