    Frequently asked questions

    How do you play solitaire?▾

Klondike solitaire uses seven tableau columns. Build columns down in alternating colors (a red 6 on a black 7), move face-up runs between columns and turn over hidden cards. The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations, Ace to King in each suit.

What can go in an empty column?▾

Only a King — or a run of cards starting with a King. Freeing a column early to place a King is one of the most useful moves in the game.

What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?▾

Draw 1 turns one card from the deck at a time, so you can reach every card and win far more often. Draw 3 turns three cards and only the top one is playable, which is the classic, harder version.

Is every game of solitaire winnable?▾

No. Research estimates that about 80% of Klondike deals are winnable with perfect play when you can see all cards, but far fewer are won in practice — roughly 1 in 3 for Draw 3 players. Undo helps you try different lines.

    How does solitaire scoring work?▾

This game uses Windows-style standard scoring: +10 for each card moved to a foundation, +5 for moving a card from the deck to the tableau, +5 for turning over a tableau card, −15 for moving a card back from a foundation and −100 for recycling the deck in Draw 1.

    Does my game get saved?▾

Yes. Your current deal, score, moves and time are saved in your browser, so you can close the tab and continue later on the same device.
