Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?▾
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the canvas API, so your photos never leave your device and it works even offline once the page is loaded.
What happens to transparency when I convert PNG to JPG?▾
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose (white by default). Convert to PNG or WEBP to keep transparency.
Which format should I use?▾
Use JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots, logos and images that need transparency or sharp text, and WEBP for websites — it is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality.
Can I convert HEIC iPhone photos?▾
Only in browsers that can open HEIC, such as Safari on Mac and iPhone. In Chrome or Firefox, set your iPhone camera to 'Most Compatible' or share the photo as JPG first.
Does converting reduce quality?▾
PNG output is lossless. JPG and WEBP are lossy; 85–90% quality looks identical for most photos while keeping files small. Lower the quality slider for smaller files.
