    Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?▾

No. The image is opened and cropped with your browser's canvas, so it never leaves your device.

How do I crop a photo to a square for Instagram?▾

Choose 1:1 Square for a square post or 4:5 Instagram for the taller portrait format, move the box over the part you want and download.

    Does cropping reduce image quality?▾

Cropping keeps the original pixels of the area you choose — nothing is resized. PNG output is lossless; JPG and WebP use the quality you set (92% by default).

Can I crop to an exact pixel size?▾

Yes. Type X, Y, width and height in pixels below the image. The crop is kept inside the image, so values are clamped if they go past the edge.

Why does a transparent PNG get a white background as JPG?▾

JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency.
