    Frequently asked questions

How do I blur part of an image?▾

Upload the picture, choose Blur and drag a box over the area — a face, name, address or license plate. Add as many boxes as you need, adjust the strength and download the result.

Is blurring or pixelating safe for hiding sensitive information?▾

Strong blur and large pixel blocks hide faces and plates well, but weak blur on text can sometimes be partly reconstructed. For passwords, card numbers or documents, use Black box, which removes the pixels completely.

Can I blur the whole photo?▾

Yes — tick Whole image to blur or pixelate everything, and use the strength slider to control how strong it is. That's handy for backgrounds, wallpapers and spoiler images.

What is the difference between blur and pixelate?▾

Blur softens the area smoothly, like an out-of-focus camera. Pixelate replaces it with large single-color squares (mosaic), the style often used on TV to hide faces.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?▾

No. All editing happens in your browser. The downloaded copy also drops hidden metadata such as EXIF camera data and GPS location.

    Which image formats are supported?▾

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and most other images your browser can open. JPG and WebP are saved in the same format; other formats are saved as PNG. Very large photos are scaled to 2400 pixels on the long side.
