Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate hours worked?▾
Subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time, then subtract unpaid breaks. For example 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch is 8 hours 30 minutes − 30 minutes = 8 hours.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?▾
Divide the minutes by 60. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7 + 45 ÷ 60 = 7.75 hours. Payroll systems usually need decimal hours, which the calculator shows next to every total.
Does it handle overnight or night shifts?▾
Yes. If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time (for example 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM), the shift is counted as crossing midnight.
How is overtime calculated?▾
By default hours above 40 per week are overtime, paid at 1.5× the hourly rate, which matches the US Fair Labor Standards Act. Change the threshold and multiplier to match your contract or local law.
Is my timesheet saved or uploaded?▾
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
