How do I calculate my car's MPG?▾
Fill the tank, reset the trip meter, and at the next fill-up divide the miles driven by the gallons needed to refill. 320 miles on 11.5 gallons is about 27.8 MPG.
How do I convert MPG to L/100 km?▾
Divide 235.215 by the US MPG figure. 30 MPG (US) equals about 7.84 L/100 km. For UK MPG, divide 282.481 by the MPG figure instead.
Why are UK MPG figures higher than US?▾
A UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 litres while a US gallon is 3.785 litres. The same car therefore shows about 20% higher MPG in UK units.
