How do I calculate how much flooring I need?▾
Multiply each room's length by its width, add the areas together and add a waste allowance. Divide by the coverage of one box and round up to whole boxes.
How much waste should I allow for flooring?▾
Allow about 10% for a straight lay, 15% for a diagonal lay and 20% for herringbone or chevron patterns, which need more cuts.
How many boxes of flooring for 180 square feet?▾
With 10% waste you need 198 sq ft. If one box covers 20 sq ft, that is 9.9 boxes, so buy 10 boxes.
