Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate square footage?▾
For a rectangle, multiply length by width in feet: a 12 ft × 15 ft room is 180 sq ft. For odd-shaped rooms, split them into rectangles, add each area, and sum them — the calculator does this with the 'Add another area' button.
How do I convert square meters to square feet?▾
Multiply square meters by 10.7639. For example 50 m² ≈ 538.2 sq ft. Enter dimensions in meters and the calculator shows both.
How much extra flooring should I buy?▾
Add about 10% for waste with straight installs, 15% for diagonal or herringbone patterns and tile, and more for rooms with many corners.
How do I calculate the area of a circle?▾
Area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)². A 10 ft round patio is about 78.54 sq ft.
How many square feet are in an acre?▾
One acre is exactly 43,560 square feet (about 4,047 m²).
