    Frequently asked questions

    What is Base64?▾

Base64 represents binary data using 64 safe text characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /). It is used to embed images in HTML/CSS, send attachments in email and put binary data in JSON or URLs. It is an encoding, not encryption.

How do I convert Base64 to an image?▾

Choose Decode, paste the Base64 string or data URL (data:image/png;base64,…) and click Decode Base64. The image is detected automatically, previewed and can be downloaded.

    What is Base64url?▾

A URL- and filename-safe variant that uses - and _ instead of + and / and usually drops the = padding. It is used in JWTs and URLs. The decoder accepts both variants automatically.

Does it support emojis and non-English text?▾

Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8 before Base64, so accents, emojis and any script round-trip correctly.

Is my data sent to a server?▾

No. Encoding and decoding happen entirely in your browser.
