Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a weighted grade?▾
Multiply each score by its weight, add the results and divide by the total weight. Example: homework 92% × 20 + quizzes 85% × 20 + midterm 78% × 25 = 5490; ÷ 65 = 84.46%.
What do I need on my final to get an A?▾
Required final = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With an 84% current grade, a 30% final and a 90% target you need (90 − 84 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 104% — so choose a lower target or check for extra credit.
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?▾
The calculator divides by the weights you entered, so you get your grade so far on the graded work, and it tells you how much weight is still to come.
Can I enter scores as points, like 45/50?▾
Yes. Type a fraction such as 45/50 in the score box and it is converted to 90% automatically.
What letter grade scale is used?▾
The common US scale: A 93–96.99, A- 90–92.99, B+ 87–89.99 and so on down to F below 60 (A+ from 97). Your school's cut-offs may differ slightly.
